My local writers group is also meeting more, now that kids are back in school.Debbie A Byrnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06219009309869041795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6411231637771693377.post-50561593714145650832012-08-22T09:55:51.939-04:002012-08-22T09:55:51.939-04:00Hi Mary Jo,

So I HAVE to get up and running really fast. Trouble is I always battle when I've been away to get back into the groove. I like the sound of Freeplane. Perhaps I'll download it and learn it while I'm on break! Thanks for the suggestions.Shirley Corderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04429641202607657089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6411231637771693377.post-75452801371531917912012-08-22T08:20:11.276-04:002012-08-22T08:20:11.276-04:00Great suggestion Maggie to find a competition or s...Great suggestion Maggie to find a competition or something, deadlines can really jumpstart your writing when you feel stalled. Do you find you have a time of year when you slow down with your writing or is it just intermittent? Scheduling in time is the best solution for that Mary Jo as you rightly point out. Nothing like the accountability of a critique group either. I also like, when I'm struggling, to enroll in something or find a competition to write for. The deadlines help a lot.Magdalena Ballhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00182314078304734996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6411231637771693377.post-14089927430027252772012-08-21T20:40:04.608-04:002012-08-21T20:40:04.608-04:00Thanks for stopping by Karen. When I moderated a children's critique group, we always took the summers off. In fact, when we did virtual tours as part of WOTM's marketing strategy, we took the summers off.

I think you need to give the old brain a rest now and then.

Great tips for Karen Cioffihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15492421057039326702noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6411231637771693377.post-4811505511959391692012-08-21T12:12:44.965-04:002012-08-21T12:12:44.965-04:00I took a couple of weeks off and what a struggle t...I took a couple of weeks off and what a struggle to get back to my groove. Wow! You could have cut my brain fog with a knife when I sat down to write. I had to begin with short prompts to find my muse.
