A VBT - Writers on the Move Kid's Pick Book Review
So Totally Emily Ebers
Review by: Esther (4th grader)
Title: So Totally Emily Ebers
Author: Lisa Yee
After the sleepover [Part 2], Emily and Millie (short for Millicent) went to the supermarket. It was July 3rd, and they were buying food to barbecue for the next day, July 4th. They will barbecue and throw fireworks in the sky.
That night they camped at the backyard and watched the fire works light up. They thought it was beautiful. Both of the girls ate tacos, pizza, and cheese sandwiches, two soda pops, and two cups of water. They had a great time camping outside and watching the fireworks explode!!
Last time [Part 3] we left of an when Emily and Millie camped outside watching the fireworks explode in the sky.
Well, one day, Emily and Millie went walking to the mall. They bought a lot of new clothes and shoes for special occasions. It was so fun!
There, they were talking and talking when they saw a cute boy walking towards them. They started looking at him and started talking with him. They became good friends.
That's it folks!

Last time [Part 1] we left off on Emily becoming good friends with Millicent Min. Well, after they became good friends they started hanging out a lot more! So one day they decided to have a sleepover.
Millicent went over Emily's house and they had a great time! They sang, made jewelry, watched tv, do each other's hair and then finally at 10pm, they slept. But, they didn't really sleep. They kept talking for the whole night until 11pm. Then, at 6am, they had a pillow fight. Finally, Millicent went home. Right after she got home they called each other and talked for hours! They had a great time!

So Totally Emily Ebers - A Kid's Pick Review

Title: So Totally Emily Ebers
Author: Lisa Yee
This book is about a girl named Emily Ebers, her mom and her dad. At age 12 Emily's mom separated and divorced with her dad. This caused a lot of problems for her.
After the divorce, Emily got stuck with her mom and moved with her to Pennsylvania. There they moved to a house which she called a mansion. It had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a first and second floor, an office, a kitchen, and a huge back yard. She absolutely did not like being with her mom, and she missed her dad.
Emily hated sports and her mom knew that, but she send her to a volleyball team. Emily hated the uniform and did not like her enemy, Jennifer and her "back up singers!" Although she hated this team, she met a girl that she got along with. Emily and her new friend became very good friends!!

Title: Goosebumps: Go Eat Worms
Author: R.L. Stine
Reviewer: Chris (4th grader)
I read Goosebumps: Go Eat Worms by R.L. Stine. I would recommend it because it is exciting and you wonder who is the person doing the mean stuff.
It's about a boy named Todd who loves worms. But when he cuts a worm in half, his sister says the worms are gonna get revenge. So, Todd dosen't know if she's lying or if it's true. But it's an awesome book.

Title: Warriors - Super Edition: Firestar's Quest
Author: Erin Hunter
Reviewer: Nayana (4th grader)
I like this story because it's exciting and adventurous. It was also sad in one part of it because Firestar's mate, Sandstorm got lost in a storm, but Firestar found her. It was nice when Firestar finally rebuilt the skyclan. The story was really, really good. I like you should read this book!

Title: The Baby-Sitters Club Super Special #5: California Girls!
Author: Ann M. Martin
One day, the baby-sitter club sat and watched television for the lottery ticket. They thought they didn't win with all 6 numbers but, they got 5 of the numbers.
So they all called the phone number for the lottory ticket and they won a lot of cash. Dawn thought they could go to California for their vacation. Since it was Dawn's idea, and she is not part of the baby-sitter club, they still let her come to vacation with them.
When all of them were in the plane, in a couple of hours, they were in California. Everybody had a wonderful time. Almost all of the girls in the baby-sitting club had a wonderful job. All of the girls had time to go to the beach or send a postcard. All of the girls called and sended a post card. They remembered that how can they go back to Stoneybrook, when they just turned California girls.

Twenty-four year old Daniella is an architecture student living with her narcissistic artist boyfriend in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Abandoned by her father at an early age, Daniella always falls for the wrong type of man.
Her most enduring male relationship so far is with her 30-pound Turkish angora cat. Thankfully, Daniella's mother is always there to offer a shoulder.
Several strange mysteries are threaded through Daniella's everyday life: her ex-husband, Ismael, has just opened an outlandish hotel for animal lovers that has her distraught; Ismael's wife, a rich woman Daniella fondly refers to as "Lady Dracula," has some gruesome ways to keep her skin looking young; Daniella's mother is founding a revolutionary, feminist society called The Praying Mantises; the island's national forest is being depleted of hallucinogenic mushrooms; meanwhile, young girls are disappearing and there's a nut loose dressed as Zorro slashing the rear ends of women who wear miniskirts.
Oppressed by all these crazed, eccentric characters, Daniella feels herself falling into an abyss. Then something horrendous happens, making Daniella wake from her stupor and take charge of her life.
